Byron on the One's and Two's
Hi, my name is Byron Richter and I am a DJ/Turntablist/Producer from Reno, Nevada. I am big on scratching, beat juggling and just rocking parties in general. I would like to share some thoughts on two brands of turntables that I own and equally use, they are the ever famous Technics 1200s and the Vestax PDX-2000s. I love both sets but they both have their strengths and their weaknesses. For instance, the Technics are awesome for rocking parties and shows because the pitch never drifts whereas on the Vestax the pitch drifts quite a bit which makes for sloppy blends sometimes. The Vestax on the other hand are amazing for scratching, you can have the heaviest hands in the world and the needle won't budge whereas you must use a more delicate touch with the Technics. The Vestax tables also feature an optional extra 50+ or 50- pitch bend adjustment whereas my Technics only offer the standard 8+ or 8- pitch bend. I definitely like the Technics better for beat juggling and blending and the Vestax for scratching. Like I said I can get down on both and I love them both equally, you just have to adapt to the feel. If you have experience with either brands please give me your two cents.
